Modern Warfare 2 for Consoles Banned in Russia

Due to a specific scenario in the game, the console versions are banned in Russia.

One of the most controversial missions in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has caused the console versions of the game to be banned in Russia. All copies on store shelves have been recalled as well. Hell Forge reports that the ban was due to the "No Russian" mission, which contains the infamous airport massacre scene. The PC version is not banned due to a patch that removed the level in the game.

One Russian video game website claims that the game caters to American audiences with a total disregard of other cultures. The website also claims that Infinity Ward portrays Russians as terrorists in the game.

A censored version of the game is expected to be re-released on consoles if the Russian government approves it.
