Wii Sales Up Since Price Cut

After weak September sales, the Wii has returned to the top spot given the fifty dollar reduction.

Back in September, after three years of strong sales and overwhelming victories over the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the Wii lost its top spot. Given the release of the price-reduced PS3 Slim, Sony had any easy victory for the month of September.

Since then, Nintendo has dropped the price of the Wii to $199.99 and in turn has seen weekly sales of the Wii raise up up 85%.

Cammie Dunaway, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Nintendo of America, is confident in the system and feels that it is poised to perform well for yet another holiday season.

According to Dunaway, "[the Wii] has an unbeatable combination of games, experience and unbeatable value, and that continues to put it to the top of people's wish list."
