Total Costs for America's Army Games Equals $32.8 Million

The U.S. government totals the cumulative budget for the first person shooter army recruitment game.

Recently, data made available thanks to the Freedom of Information Act revealed that the America's Army series of games has cost the US government $32.8 Million.

Originally started in 2000, the America's Army project was originally planned as a five year investment with a $7 million budget. The games were slated to be realistic military tactical shooters that were free to play, and intended as a recruitment tool for the army.

Most of the games in the series have been made for the PC, including America's Army 3 which was released in June 2009. Ubisoft has also published spin-off titles for consoles.
