Famitsu Announces Etrian Odyssey 3

The latest game in the series will take place on the ocean.

According to Andriasang, the latest issue of Famitsu revealed that Atlus is developing the next title in the Etrian Odyssey Series, entitled Sekaijyu no Meikyu 3: Hoshiumi no Raihousha - which roughly translates to Etrian Odyssey 3: Visitors to the Sea of Stars.

This iteration will primarily take place in the ocean, and rather than just using the ocean as a setting, players will explore the seas when they aren't exploring a dungeon.

Like its predecessors Etrian Odyssey will have you creating your own map via the touchscreen. The guild in the game will also give you specific Oceanic quests that can be only be completed in the ocean.

The sequel will also feature a new set of classes including the prince, phalanx, monk, shinobi, and pirate, as well as other classes that have yet to be revealed. Rather than recycle artwork from previous entires, all of it will be redone.

Finally, the game will also have some kind of local multiplayer where up to five players can play together. Atlus will elaborate on this feature at a later point.

Etrian Odyssey 3 will be released in Japan on March 4 and will be priced at ¥6,279 (~$71.45).
