A total of eight new titles were revealed from a slew of different publishers.

While the VGAs haven't been the most exciting awards in past years, this year, Spike TV made sure to sign on a number of companies to announce a variety of new titles.

Geoff Keighley originally spoke of a surprise new premiere within the first few minutes of the show. Batman Arkham Asylum 2 was revealed to be that title, and at the helm was once again Rocksteady, the same studio responsible for the first critically acclaimed title.

Following that announcement were a number of sequels to established franchises, the first of which was Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II. Green Day: Rock Band will be the second band-exclusive full title following The Beatles: Rock Band. UFC Disputed 2010 is coming from THQ, following up the well received 2009 version of the game.

The True Crime series will be seeing a revival with True Crime: Hong Kong, as will the Tron series with Tron: Evolution.

Deadliest Warrior, a downloadble title based on the television series is being developed by Pipeworks Software, and Spec Ops: The Line, a new title from 2K Games were the last newly announced games.

During the awards, players were treated to a few other videos including the world-exclusive debut of Halo: Reach, Crackdown 2 footage, and a CGI trailer for Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands.

- Best Music Game: The Beatles: Rock Band

- Best Soundtrack: DJ Hero

- Best Original Score: Halo 3: ODST

- Best Graphics: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

- Best Game Based On A Movie/TV Show: South Park Let's Go -Tower Defense Play!

- Best Performance By A Human Female: Megan Fox (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen)

- Best Performance By A Human Male: Hugh Jackman (X-Men Origins: Wolverine)

- Best Cast: X-Men Origins: Wolverine

- Best Voice: Jack Black (Brütal Legend)

- Best Downloadable Game: Shadow Complex
