Sega Genesis Virtual Console Sale

Nintendo and Sega are throwing a promotional sale on some of the best Sega Genesis Virtual Console titles.

Today, an update under the Important Info portion of the main Wii Shop Channel page revealed that there will be a sale on a couple of Sega Genesis titles. The sale will begin on December 24 and will end on January 6.

The Sega Europe blog has revealed that the same promotion will be active in Europe as well.

The following Sega Genesis games on the Virtual Console will be discounted to 500 Wii Points.

  • Sonic the Hedgehog
  • Sonic the Hedgehog 2
  • Sonic the Hedgehog 3
  • Gunstar Heroes
  • ToeJam & Earl
  • Puyo Puyo 2
  • Shining Force
  • Golden Axe
  • Altered Beast
  • Streets of Rage 2

A sale on the Virtual Console?!?!?! Looks like hell froze over. Hopefully we will see future Virtual Console, WiiWare, and DSiWare sales.

Yeah, I'm hoping Nintendo continues these sales like Sony does with PSN.

It was 8 years ago that Metroid Prime 4 was originally announced and its development was more than a little turbulent.
