New Xbox 360 Model Revealed

To coincide the Kinect announcement, Microsoft announces a redesigned Xbox 360.

During the E3 presentation, Microsoft has announced a redesigned Xbox 360. This new 360 model will replace the current model and includes various enhancements.

The new Xbox 360 includes five USB ports, a 250GB hard drive, touch sensitive power and eject buttons, a custom port to connect the Kinect to the console, a dedicated optical audio port, and a smaller power supply.

Internally, Microsoft has made a couple of changes including built-in 802.11n Wi-Fi, integrated GPU and CPU, and finally a new fan system which will make the console operate quieter than earlier Xbox 360 models.

Unfortunately, the new console will not be compatible with the previous Xbox 360 external harddrive and memory units. The new Xbox 360 consoles will use a new proprietary harddrive.

The next Xbox 360 models will be available in stores starting June 18,2010 and will be priced at $299.99.

With now a second slim system, Nintendo should really think about releasing a new model just to go with the trends. Though the only way to do that would be to remove the GameCube components, but I doubt anyone really cares about that.
