Sony to Release Additional PS2 HD Compilations

More classic PS2 titles will be available on the PS3 in high definition.

In a recent interview with IGN, Shuhei Yoshida, the president of Sony World Wide studios confirmed that Sony will release additional PS2 high definition compilations for the PS3.

During their E3 conference, Sony announced The Sly Collection, a compilation of all three Sly Cooper PS2 titles. The compilation includes numerous upgrades including high definition resolution, 3D capabilities, PlayStation Move support, and trophies.

When asked if Sony plans to release classic PS2 games through the PSN store, Yoshida replied, "we are looking into ways how we can deliver the PS2 library to PS3 consumers, but we are not ready to announce anything yet."

Considering my PS3 has full backwards compatibility, these compilations don't interest me one bit. I still think that it's a shame that Sony axed PS2 BC in current PS3 models.

Also I think Sony Europe went a little overboard with those logos for the Sly Collection boxart and the Classics HD bumper looks like the GameCube boxart hearder.

Let's not forget the only title confirmed to be in 3D for that Sly collection is the third game. The other two aren't likely to have any 3D features.
