DeathSpank Sequel Announced and Dated

Even though the original title came out last month, the sequel to DeathSpank will be released next month.

Today, Hothead Games has announced DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue, the sequel to DeathSpank, a title released last month. Alongside the announcement of the sequel, Hothead confirmed DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue's release will be next month.

Hothead has promised the sequel will contain more content than the original; including greater variety in quests, more bosses, new environments, and a larger pool of playable characters for co-operative play.

To explain the quick turnaround for the sequel, Hothead revealed to GameSpot that both DeathSpank titles were in development simultaneously.

DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue will first launch on PlayStation Network on September 21, and will be released on Xbox Live Arcade on the following day. Like the first DeathSpank, the game will be available for $14.99 or 1200 Microsoft Points, respectively.

My initial reaction - why are they release two games in the same series within two months from each other?!?! Once I read that both were made simultaneously - they should of just combined the content of both titles together.

Glancing over the GameSpot article, I noticed it was pointed out that Hothead was unable to receive feedback on the first title before the second was released. To me, it seems Hothead either took an unnecessary risk or had a lot of confidence in the DeathSpank IP. Anyone play the first title yet?

I did, it's pretty good but I do have to admit that without the humor the game would of only been a decent Fable clone.

Hot Story

In Memory of Michael Alvarado

When 1up started the process of shutting down, there was one person who seemed to lead to charge to congregate the community in a single place. After his first visit here, it wasn't long before a slew of new members arrived. The site came alive and the real story of PixlBit began - the one that involves all of you. The person I'm referring to is, of course, Michael Alvarado, otherwise known as Michael117.
