Duke Nukem Forever No Longer Vaporware

Apparently when people said DNF, they really meant Did Not Finish Yet.

It was revealed today that the running joke of the gaming world, Duke Nukem Forever would not remain in limbo for the rest of time. While creating studio 3DRealms is no longer around to finish the title, Take-Two Interactive has acquired the rights and appointed Gearbox Software to take use of the many assets from the game and finish up the original vision.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the game will take place directly after the events of Duke Nukem 3D. This time around, aliens have come to Earth, offering peaceful co-existence, yet Duke knows this isn't their true motive and before long, it's his responsibility to save the world.

Gearbox, creators of Borderlands and Brothers in Arms, started work on the property in late 2009 and have recently completed core production on the game. Currently, the team is polishing the content and the experience in order to make something that lives up to the legend of the title.

Like past titles in the series, Duke Nukem Forever is a first person shooter that features a variety of catchy one-liners, courtesy of Duke, the game's protagonist.

After 14 years in production, Take-Two claims that Duke Nukem Forever will be launching on PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 in 2011.

I wouldn't believe it until it's actually in your system and you see the title screen on your television.
