Japanese Developers Reveal a Slew of Kinect Titles

codename D from Grasshopper Manufacture, a new Steel Battalion courtesy of Konami, and Child of Eden from Q? all seem to hold promise.

Microsoft's Tokyo Game Show keynote also explored a number of upcoming Kinect titles exclusively from Japanese developers and publishers. Most of the titles showcased are completely new and all of them are from big name studios. Players can expect the full list of games in worldwide markets in 2011.

Haunt is being developed by Parappa the Rappa creators, NanaOn-Sha. The title is a tongue-in-cheek horror game that has players exploring what should be a scary mansion.

Project Draco comes from Grounding Inc., developers of Xbox-exclusive, Phantom Dust. Based on motion video, the game seems to be in the vein of Panzer Dragoon Orta.

Grasshopper Manufacture's codename D, puts players in the shoes of a man with a baseball who finds himself in an amusement park. No gameplay was revealed so it's unclear what exactly players will be doing in the game.

Dr. Kawashima, of Brain Age fame, is involved in yet another title, this time published by Bandai Namco, called Dr. Kawashima's Body and Brain Exercises. This particular title won't be released in Japan.

Child of Eden, from Q? Entertainment, is a sequel to Rez and will feature similar gameplay from the first person. Players are tasked with purifying the internet world of Eden in a set of nature-rich stages all of which feature a strong musical presence. Ubisoft will be publishing the title.

Sega's Rise of Nightmares is an actual horror title, unlike Haunt, and will feature creepy environments and some darker horror.

Finally, Capcom's Steel Battalion is returning, with From Software at the development helm. The game no longer requiring the ridiculous $200 controller, will be Kinect enabled. Steel Battalion Heavy Armor is a new interpretation of the series, and is based in Manhattan in 2082. "What if computers disappeared?" is the game's basis, according to Keiji Inafune.
