I've been wanting to play Ico, I'm glad I'll have my chance.
...Though chances are, it's just not my style of game.
Both Ico and Shadow of the Colossus are receiving a number of improvements from the PlayStation 2 originals.
Today during Tokyo Game Show, Fumito Ueda spilled the beans on a number of improvements that will be seen in Team Ico Collection, which includes remastered versions of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus.
According to Ueda, the games will ship on a single disc and will run at a constant 30 frames per second. Additionally, both titles will be re-textured to look as sharp as possible for their PS3 re-release.
The game is coming to all regions but players worldwide will be treated to the European ending of Ico, which differed from both the Japanese and American release. The box art that has managed to sneak out from some online retailers is not final, and Ueda expressed concern about the quality of the art, and stated that they would "hopefully be addressing that problem."
It was also revealed that the game will be completely playable in 3D. This heavily upgraded title will see release in spring of 2011 across the world.
Based on your seeming distaste for 3D Zelda, I'm guessing you won't be into it either. It's not quite the same thing, but there are enough similarities that I don't think you'll enjoy it much.
I'm personally excited for this news. Both titles are magnificent and a High Def re-release with a steady framerate is exactly what both of these games needed.
When 1up started the process of shutting down, there was one person who seemed to lead to charge to congregate the community in a single place. After his first visit here, it wasn't long before a slew of new members arrived. The site came alive and the real story of PixlBit began - the one that involves all of you. The person I'm referring to is, of course, Michael Alvarado, otherwise known as Michael117.
