New 5th Cell Title to be Announced

Next week on Spike TV Slaczka will unveil the title.

It was revealed today, October 21st, that Jeremy Slaczka will be appearing on Spike TV next week, on October 28th, at 10 p.m. PDT to unveil 5th Cell's latest game.

There's a twist this time: The company's latest title will be on XBLA, rather than on the Wii or DS, like prior 5th Cell games have been. The press release linked to a countdown site for the event, which appears to supply a couple clues as to their next title.

My guess is that Jeremy Slaczka wants to make a game about laundry. Unfortunately, the game will not involve laundry.

Edit: I really hope people curious about that line listen to my podcast. It makes more sense in that context.

Initially developed by Bandai Namco, it was later scrapped completely and development was shifted back to Retro Studios to start the project over. In the end, Retro has delivered a solid new entry in the series, but one that doesn’t totally capture what originally made the series so compelling.
