Atlus Announces 3D Dot Game Heroes for North America

The media darling is arriving in America next year at a discount price.

In a surprise announcement in the middle of the night, Atlus announced 3D Dot Game Heroes for North America. The retro-inspired title will see release on the PlayStation 3 on May 11, 2010.

Sony confirmed late last month that the title would be coming to America but didn't disclose who planned to publish the title.

The game channels gaming's past as it pays homage to many 8-bit and 16-bit greats. Though a world built of 3D blocks, the game occurs on a 2D plane similar to older entries in Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda series.

Players embark on a story-based quest wherein they must "gain the power of the six sages and the six orbs that protected the kingdom of Dotnia, which now stands on the verge of destruction."

Atlus confirmed the MSRP of the game to be $39.99, a value price. Gamers anticipating the title will surely appreciate the $20 price reduction on the base price of the game.

ATLUS LINKS TO LEGENDS PAST, ANNOUNCES 3D DOT GAME HEROES™ FOR PlayStation®3 COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM

Hey, who put game cubes in my PS3® system?

IRVINE, CALIFORNIA -- NOVEMBER 17, 2009 -- Atlus U.S.A., Inc. today revealed that it has licensed the rights to your childhood memories. Pixels rule again in the ultimate retro action-adventure game 3D Dot Game Heroes™ for PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, slated to land in North America on May 11, 2010.

"The 8- and 16-bit classics many gamers cut their teeth on are magical, down to their blocky sprites and elegantly simple gameplay," mused Aram Jabbari, Manager of PR and Sales for Atlus, while twirling his rattail and wearing a poorly coordinated denim-on-denim outfit. "3D Dot Game Heroes captures all of that legendary charm and more, bringing classic visuals, familar sounds, and a grand sense of exploration and discovery into stunning next-gen realization, all the while giving countless winks and nudges to the fans those iconic games mean the most to. This is pure action-adventure gaming at its finest, a true love-letter to a time-honored genre," he added while putting baseball cards in the spokes of his 10-speed.

Dripping with old school charm, classic gaming pizzazz, and pure retro sexy, 3D Dot Game Heroes is the ultimate homage to the industry's golden era.

3D Dot Game Heroes is scheduled to release on May 11, 2010 with an MSRP of $39.99.

Atlus is my hero! I'm not surprised that Atlus is bringing this over considering that Demon's Souls is also made by From Software.
