100-man Ton no Bara Bara Announced
This mystery PSP game has finally been revealed.
Acquire and Playstation C.A.M.P. are teaming up once again to produce yet another unique title for the PSP.
The collaboration, previously responsible for titles such as Holy Invasion of Privacy Badman!, are currently developing their new title, 100-man Ton no Bara Bara. According to Andriasang the name can be roughly translated to "One Million Ton Bara Bara" and as they point out, the phrase Bara Bara is one that is usually associated with items when they're broken into many pieces.
The game is set in a city where giant ships are threatening to destroy it. Players will command Titori, the person in charge of the cities defenses, who will annihilate the oncoming ships as they descend from the sky. A familiar scene from anyone who has seen the teaser site, which released last week.
In order to destroy the descending ships, players will have to latch onto the enemy's hull, creating a large rip in it. The goal is to create a slice that goes from one end of the ship's hull to the other, which will then cause a piece of the ship to fall off. As players move across the front of the ship, they will come across prisoners trapped in cells, and they must touch these cells in order to release them. Famitsu has hinted that these rescued prisoners will become party members at some point during the game. Finally, after a certain amount of the ship has broken off, players will move on to the next challenge.
While players are concerning themselves with tearing apart the ship and rescuing prisoners, they will also have to avoid oncoming dangers, such as missiles and droids.
100-man Ton no Bara Bara is expected to release during 2010 in Japan for the PSP. A trailer for the game can be viewed here.
