Capcom Announces Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition
Players now have an option to purchase Resident Evil 5 and all the downloadable content as a retail product.
Last week it was announced that the contents of Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition would be released as a collection of downloadable content. Today, Capcom announced Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition, which is set to release in March and will feature the full Resident Evil 5 game in addition to the four downloadable content packs that comprise the Alternative Edition.
The PlayStation 3 version will have all of the featured content on a single Blu-Ray disc while all the Xbox 360 version will simply feature a download token for all of the content.
If you already have Resident Evil 5, the additional content will still be available via the PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Marketplace. The "Lost In Nightmares" episode and Costume Pack 1 will be available on February 17 on Xbox Live in North America and Europe. The same two content packs will be available the following day in the PlayStation Store. The unnamed Episode 2 and Costume Pack 2 will be available in both regions on March 3 on Xbox Live with the PlayStation 3 versions available on the following day.
Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition will be released on March 9, 2010 in North America with a suggested retail price of $49.99. Just three days later, the European version will be available on March 12, 2010 for an unspecified price.
