Wow, Nokia, really? Who in their right mind thought showing off an emulator for a commercial would be a good idea?
Nintendo Investigates Potential Nokia Copyright Infringement
A new video that advertises the N900's video game emulation program causes Nintendo to launch a copyright infringement investigation.
According to The Independent, a recent video on the Nokia blog displayed the N900(Nokia's latest smart phone) running emulators for various Nintendo platforms such as the NES, SNES, Game Boy, and Game Boy Advance.
The video specifically showed Super Mario World and Super Mario 3 playing on the N900. The video also stated the following: "some emulators require separate ROM images to play games ... [and] most publishers allow individual title usage provided that the user is in possession of the original title."
In response to the video, Robert Saunders, Nintendo's senior UK PR manager said, "we take rigorous steps to protect our IP and our legal team will examine this to determine if any infringement has taken place."
