Tecmo Announces AGAIN: Eye of Providence for DS

This murder mystery brings the past and present together

Yesterday at TGS, Tecmo gave gamers a sneak-peek at their upcoming DS murder-mystery, AGAIN: Eye of Providence. The title is being developed by Cing, who is best known for their work on Hotel Dusk and the Another Code series.

The story begins in March of 1991 in Clockford, Pennsylvania. A serial killer is terrorizing the town, and the only clue to their identity is a small strange coin bearing the Eye of Providence.

Nineteen years go by without the serial killer being brought to justice. However, one night writing is found on a wall, apparently in blood, stating that the tragedy which occurred nineteen years ago will happen once again. As promised, murders begin occurring all around town and similar to the past the Eye of Providence is still the only clue for investigators.

Jonathon J Weaver, an FBI Special Agent is called in to work on the case. As Weaver begins investigating, he starts having visions of the past, a gift known as the power of past vision. It is this special ability, which allows him to compare the happenings of the past and the present, along with the aid of several other characters that will be crucial in finally uncovering the identity of the serial killer.

The trailer depicted this ability by showing one location in both the past and present. AGAIN: Eye of Providence is still very much in its developmental stages so there is no news as of yet whether the split will be presented on one screen, or if it will use both the top and bottom DS screens.

Currently there is no definite release date and no word whether it will release outside of Japan.

Cing seems like they do good work, but this genre just isn't for me. I'm certain Chessa will love this though. This should make for a great present for her, nobody let her know though... oh wait.

I would really like this game to come to America. After watching the trailer, I'm very intrigued and would like to see how the game actually handles investigation between the past and present.
