Celebrating 3 Years of PixlBit

A note from the Director and Co-Owner, Nick DiMola.

Well, here we are again. Today, PixlBit celebrates its 3rd Anniversary, an achievement I'm quite proud of. A little more than three years ago, Chessa and I poured our heart and soul into the creation of this website. Built from nothing, PixlBit slowly secured its place in the gaming media, and is now the site that stands before you. We've had ups and downs, several rewrites, and many staff members, but somehow we've made it this far and there's no stopping us now.

PixlKids: Link vs. The Skylanders

Kids are, in fact, able to discern a quality title from a middling one.

A while ago, I made the decision, as most parents do, to involve my children in my hobbies. I did this by playing catch with them in the backyard, going to baseball games, playing video games, and most recently, writing a co-op review for PixlBit. If there’s one thing I’ve learned from the experience, it’s that kids will surprise you with just how mature their perspective can be, even if they aren’t able to properly articulate it yet.

The Walking Dead: The Game - Episode 3: Long Road Ahead Review

The zombie apocalypse sure is depressing. Who knew?

It was risky to take a popular known brand like the Walking Dead and create a unique and separate story within that universe, but the risk has paid off. The first two episodes have been great in their own right, but this third and latest episode entitled Long Road Ahead ups the ante not only when focusing on the action, but the emotion as well.

BioWare Founders Retire

The video game industry's doctors are moving on.

Hot on the heels of the huge announcement for Dragon Age 3: Inquisition came some sobering news that nearly eclipsed that previous story: the founders of Bioware, Dr. Greg Zeschuk and Dr. Ray Musyka confirmed that they are leaving the company. This isn’t simply a matter of the doctors making a smooth exit from EA to form a new independent video game label—they are leaving the industry entirely and moving on to new ventures.

Play Video Games in Public Day

Come out of that basement to bask in the sun and ridicule, all for a good cause.

We’re at a crossroads, my friends.  Now is a critical time to set out to change the world’s attitudes towards our beloved video games. Even though we have to suffer through mainstream press articles about how big of a money maker Call of Duty is relative to Hollywood blockbusters, and even though everyone from toddlers to grandmas got pretty nuts about Angry Birds there for a while – gaming is still looked down upon.  As more and more people who grew up playing games stick with them as adults, our little hobby has been gaining more and more legitimacy, but it’s still not enough.

Human Tanks, Charge! War of the Human Tanks Review

D’awwww, wook at the widdle corpses!

We all know that war is ugly.  But what if someone found a way to make it so freaking adorable that any moral qualms you might have about the whole concept went out the window?  Well, War of The Human Tanks sure does its best by making battles across the oh-so-fictionalized land of “Japon” into a cute-fest on a game board. It's a game board with fun mechanics if you can endure the painfully boring and long-winded story that stands between you and each match.

Amazon US Selling Nintendo Hardware Once Again

For months, it wasn't possible to buy new Nintendo hardware directly from the online retailer.

Up until yesterday, Nintendo and Amazon were in an unspoken and unannounced feud. For months, the online superstore has not stocked or sold Nintendo hardware directly, but today the cold war appears to have ended.
