Nintendo Land Preview

AKA Nintendo Circus, depending on who you ask

Like many of you out there, I wasn’t terribly impressed by Nintendo’s press conference at this year’s E3. One of the things they touted as being a major showpiece was a game called Nintendo Land. Much like Wii Sports, the aim of this title is to introduce players to a new controller--in this case the Wii U GamePad--through a virtual theme park bursting with references to classic Nintendo franchises. At each attraction, your mii will don an appropriate costume and partake in a challenge that teaches the player a new way to use the Wii U GamePad.  Nintendo’s hope is that this game will do for the Wii U what Wii Sports did for the Wii, and explain to new players exactly what the Wii U is all about.

Rayman Legends Preview

Rock out with your Globox out!

Sometimes a title comes along that brings to mind childish wonder. A game that brings back memories of the past, before realism was the standard and fantastical worlds were the norm. A title that includes colorful graphics, spinning spike-riddled death traps, and rocking grandmas. Wait, what?

Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two Preview

The mouse and rabbit unite! No,not that rabbit.

Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two has something to prove. The first game created divided opinions, and the announcement of a sequel wasn't exactly highly anticipated. However, a sequel is just what Junction Point is creating, and the return of Mickey aims to appeal to a wider audience by fixing the issues of the first game while also bringing the world of Wasteland to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in addition to the Wii.

The Wonderful 101 Preview

Newsflash: Citizens Become Super Heroes and Morph together to Form Giant Weapons Against Evil

Project P-100 was Nintendo's best kept secret at E3 2012. It was so well kept, in fact, that it wasn't even shown at the Nintendo press conference. One would think that an exclusive game designed by hotshot Japanese developer Platinum Games (Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance) would be something that Nintendo would want to shout about, but instead the game got a quiet reveal on Spike TV after the press conference.

Disney Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion Preview

Reality Is What You Paint Of It.

Epic Mickey was released in 2010 to extremely polarizing reviews. Junction Point aims to address the criticisms of the game in hopes of reaching a larger audience with Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two. In addition to the console sequel a portable game for the 3DS from developer Dreamrift was revealed at E3, and while it shares the same concept as Epic Mickey, this title is mostly inspired by the Sega Genesis classic Castle of Illusion.

Abe's Oddysee Getting An HD Remake

The first game in the Oddworld series is getting a "from the ground up" remake.

The Oddworld series is a beloved franchise, but outside of a the recently released Stranger's Wrath HD port and the upcoming Munch's Oddysee rerelease not much has been heard.  The Hand of Odd is still coming, but no one really knows when, but that's okay since Just Add Water keeps on giving the series some HD love, as it has been announced that the first game in the series, Abe's Oddysee, will not get a HD remix as originally planned, but a full-on remake.

Dust: An Elysian Tail Preview

Such an amazing gaming package that gamers will need a cigarette after experiencing it.

Imagine if you will, that video games never went into the third dimension. Instead of the polygon arms race that began in 1995, game artists and designers simply continued to hone the craft of 2D, hand-drawn sprites. What would the video games industry look like today? With that picture in your head, imagine that character-action games like Devil May Cry and God of War still existed, but were known for their gorgeous animation and parallax scrolling as much for their over-the-top combo systems and precise control schemes. Enter Dust: An Elysian Tale, a game that seems to come from this amazing alternate gaming reality.
