The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Review

New controls, new structure, and new enemies help define this series changing game.

“Hey, listen!” Apparently someone at Nintendo got the message. After the release of Twilight Princess, universally, fans were begging for change. While Nintendo seemingly gave their audience everything they ever wanted with the Wii’s first title and the GameCube’s last hurrah, they still weren’t happy. They wanted a reinvention; they wanted something new, something fresh. Well there’s little question about it, Skyward Sword is absolutely the answer to the fans. Though not something wholly new, Link’s latest adventure manages to shake things up enough to make them fresh.

Tropico 4 Review

El Presidente would fire the UI designers - if he could find the menu to do it.

I have some amazing memories of construction/simulation heavy games, like Sim City 2000 and Dawn of Discovery. When done right, games in this genre are absolutely captivating. Tropico 4 comes extremely close to hitting the nail on the head, but stumbles in its implementation.

Reggie Says Mobile Gaming Goes Against What Nintendo Believes In

Also, he likes Skylanders. Who knew?

Reggie Fils-Aime has come a long way from his E3 2004 debut where he was all about “kickin’ ass and takin’ names”. The former VP of Sales and Marketing for Nintendo of America is now the President of Nintendo of America, and he has a lot to say about where the Big N is going, not only in terms of hardware and software, but on the digital front as well. Where is the Precision in Platformers?

It's alright when controls are tight.

I’ve gotten further than I ever had in Ratchet & Clank. I’m on Planet Oltanis and I made my way through the various light guards, sentry robots, and machine gun turrets. It hasn’t been easy, with Clank not available for this level. I lack a lot of the various platforming upgrades I’ve acquired through my playthrough. However, I’m here, and the shiny bright aura surrounding my prize is in my sights. All that remains are some floating platforms with slingshot orbs above them. I grapple onto the first one. No problem. The next one is easy to reach as well after waiting for it to be in line. I grapple onto the third and final orb. It pulls me in. I drop down. I land on the floating platform. Something’s wrong. I’m stuck in the falling animation.
