Developers of the Ratchet and Clank and Resistance series are working on something new for EA.
Today, Insomniac Games and EA announced their latest combined efforts for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Overstrike. The game is a four-player cooperative action title that features "a team of elite agents called Overstrike 9." Four of the members of the team, an ex-mercenary, a thief, a scientist, and a detective are outcasts amongst the group, but are the team best suited to stop a global terrorist group threatening to destroy mankind. Through the use of teamwork, technology, weapons, and gadgets, players will infiltrate and destroy enemy strongholds. No other information about the game is currently known.
EA and BioWare have set the date that will close out the trilogy.
Today, EA announced the release date of the third Mass Effect title. The game will launch on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on March 6, 2012. The shooter-RPG will tell the story of the Reapers who have launched an invasion on the entire galaxy, leaving a wake of destruction. The galaxy is on the verge of destruction and only Commander Shepard can save it.
A Kinect sidequest to the Fable series is currently in development.
Peter Molyneux took the stage today at the Microsoft press conference to reveal the latest game in the Fable series, Fable: The Journey. Unlike the rest of the games in the series, this title appears to be a spin-off that's primary focus is around use of the Kinect. Currently, the game is slated for an unspecified 2012 release.
The various services will continue to bolster Microsoft's Xbox Live offering, as will the interactive UFC Xbox Live integration.
Aside from games, Microsoft set out today to demonstrate that the Xbox 360 is more than just a gaming machine. Similar to what they did during last year's press conference, the company announced a number of new services, as well as a brand new interface for the Xbox 360 to tie it all together. YouTube, Bing, and live TV were all touted as new features due out alongside the New Xbox Experience this fall.
The game will feature Kinect functionality.
Only briefly mentioned during Microsoft's press conference today, Minecraft, the popular PC game will be coming exclusively to the Xbox 360 this winter. The game will feature Kinect functionality, but what specifically players can do with the peripheral is still unknown.
The new permanent addition to the Xbox dashboard will be available today.
In line with the Kinect-heavy Microsoft presentation, the company announced the latest major feature and service for the Kinect, Kinect Fun Labs. The new functionality will be available starting today and will be a permanent new addition to the Xbox dashboard. During the presentation, the company showed off a few different applications of the technology and explained that it was made completely with the community tools that have been made available since the launch of the Kinect.
During the Microsoft press conference, Harmonix blew the top off of the follow-up to the best selling game for Kinect.
Dance Central 2 was announced today by Harmonix during the Microsoft press briefing. The game is set to offer a variety of new content and features, like the ability to perform simultaneously with another player via drop-in/drop-out multiplayer. Players will have access to over 100 songs later this year when the game launches exclusively on the Xbox 360.
