Definitely one of my most wanted titles.
Rayman Origins Hands On Preview
How does the latest Rayman game and return to the series' roots look so far?
This year, we're doing something a bit different. In order to bring you coverage as fast as possible, we'll be posting audio recordings of notes from staff members at E3 and later adding in a written version of the impressions. Please click through and check out this staff member's recorded thoughts on the game from the E3 show floor.
Notes
- 2D platformer, like the original title
- no rabbids here
- yellow lums for life as usual
- 4 simultaneous players, like NSMBW
- Drop in/drop out multi
- All characters can interact with each other.
- punch, kick, ground slam as well as charge attacks.
- Running included, had trouble but it could've been because of pressing the wrong button
- players go into bubbles when they die, others have to beat up the bubble to get the player out. This gives players choice of when to revive someone unlike nsmbw
- Game with in a jungle theme
- felt like a standard platformer. Lots of secret passageways with hints. Areas are completely revealed upon getting to the entrance. Team work will be necessary
- can get lost off the screen when you break from the team, also easy to get lost in the complex scenery
- players can stack up by standing still and holding up. Makes a platform for another player to jump on
- attacks can knock your allies around, but even still, less chaotic than nsmbw
- End of the stage, counts lums to determine a winner
- Second stage demoed was vertically scrolling. giant monster chasing the whole time from below.
- difficult segment and the group often died
- can play as rayman, globox, and teensies
- game was clear on a big screen, but it might look cluttered on a small screen
- third level, had to hit a chime to start a glowing aura which would protect you. Had to keep hitting it to keep from dying
