Chase Mii Hands On Preview

Hide-and-seek. With Miis.

Chase Mii is another Mii crossover demo, this time with Miis in Mario and Toad suits in a hide-and-seek minigame.

The player with the Wii U controller plays as Mario who is given a head start to run off into a Mario Kart battle mode-style arena, then up to four other players with NES-style Wii remotes run around as Toad Miis and try to dive for him like a rabbit before the timer runs out. A star occasionally appears in the center of the arena, but it's otherwise a simple demo.

On the television, each Toad can see how many yards away they are from Mario, and there was a lot of shouting and communication between Toads to hunt him down. Toads can dive with 2, and I'm pretty sure Mario can only be moved via the circle pad. Controls are limited, and like Battle Mii, running is pretty slow for the size of the arena.

The Wii U controller has a large map of the area and a smaller, much more zoomed top-down viewing area to see Mario, of course to limit the view of his surroundings. Seems like kind of a waste for such shiny new technology, but at least it was fun.

Hot Story

In Memory of Michael Alvarado

The person I'm referring to is, of course, Michael Alvarado, otherwise known as Michael117.
