Upcoming Downtime - June 9, 2013

Sorry for the short notice again.

Hi guys. As I'm sure you've observed, the site has been running uncharacteristically slow since the big release I did the other night. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to diagnose the issue despite countless attempts. The issue is coming from the database, which is not performing as it did before the code release, which is something of a conundrum to me. However, I have hope that an upgrade to the database software will make the situation better.

SOS - Save Our Saves!

Those happy little bouncing Vita icons hold a deep, dark secret.

The PlayStation Vita is a fine gaming machine – one that I have enjoyed playing for the past couple of weeks since its release. It's sturdily constructed, has a beautiful OLED display, some great launch games, and a very nifty user interface that's both attractive and easy to use. Despite all it has going for it, it houses one of the worst design decisions I've ever encountered in a gaming console.

Bungie.net Halo Services Ending on March 31

Bungie's passing the torch to 343 Industries

Bungie doesn't make Halo games anymore, but they have still maintained the game stats and player service records for the Halo games thus far. Well, that will change on March 31, because Bungie issued a statement today saying that all live data will now be handled by 343 Industries.

Vita 3G Data Plans Revealed

Gamers opting into AT&T's service will get more than just data for their dollars.

At E3 earlier this year Sony announced that AT&T would be providing the 3G service for its newest handheld gaming device, the Vita.  Today AT&T revealed how much the data plans would cost US gamers and what perks, if any, they would get with them.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Bug Fix Now Available

Almost as easy as catching a bug with a butterfly net.

We previously reported a game breaking bug in Link's newest adventure, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.  We can now report that a fix is available for download in the form of a Wii channel called the "Zelda Data Restoration Channel."
