The first game in the Oddworld series is getting a "from the ground up" remake.
The Oddworld series is a beloved franchise, but outside of a the recently released Stranger's Wrath HD port and the upcoming Munch's Oddysee rerelease not much has been heard. The Hand of Odd is still coming, but no one really knows when, but that's okay since Just Add Water keeps on giving the series some HD love, as it has been announced that the first game in the series, Abe's Oddysee, will not get a HD remix as originally planned, but a full-on remake.
Something Odd this way comes...
Oddworld: Hand of Odd has had a rather strange journey. Development for the game began in parallel with Munch’s Oddysee on the PlayStation 2. When Munch jumped the Sony ship to be a launch title on Microsoft’s original Xbox, Hand of Odd was left in limbo and development on what was to be some sort of real-time strategy game came to a screeching halt.
The HD remake is done and ready to catch some outlaws.
Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD was originally supposed to be released this past Easter. After horribly missing that day, Gamespot has confirmed that the HD remake will be released on December 27, 2011 for the PlayStation Network for $15.
A PlayStation Blog post by Lorne Lanning reveals that the announced titles will be available this week.
Oddworld is the creation of Lorne Lanning, co-founder and creative director of Oddworld Inhabitants. His first two PSone titles, Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee and Oddworld: Abe's Exodus will be available this week on PSN, according to a recent post of his on the PlayStation Blog.
