A stunning masterpiece that has proven itself time after time.
So. Chrono Trigger. It’s kind of famous. The game has been released on the SNES, PS1, DS, and now the Wii Virtual Console. I’ve never even heard of someone who’s played this game and doesn’t love it.
The classic will be available on May 16, 2011.
Square Enix officially announced today that Chrono Trigger will be making its way to the Wii Virtual Console on May 16, 2011. The game has seen release in both Japan and Europe already and was known to have been at least rated by the ESRB in America for release. As a Virtual Console release, the game will be presented in its unaltered, SNES form. A price has not been announced at this time for the title, but will likely be available for 800 Wii Points ($8). North American Tales fans will get a double dose of the popular JRPG in the coming months.
North American Tales series fans won't have to wait much longer to get their Tales fix. Two Tales games will be making their way to American shores, the first of which is due out later this year. Tales of the Abyss 3D is a port of the original game, which released on the PlayStation 2 in 2006. Developers have promised that this remake will not only keep everything fans loved about the original, but that the game will feature fully remastered graphics that take full advantage of the 3DS hardware.
The previously Japan-only Monolith Soft title is being localized by Nintendo of Europe.
This morning, Nintendo of Europe announced plans to localize the Monolith Soft title, Xenoblade, known now in Europe as Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii. The title was originally revealed two years back at E3 2009 as Monado: Beginning of the World. Since the original announcement, Nintendo of America hasn't brought up the title again, though it's still on their website under its original name for an unspecified 2011 release.
A beautiful celebration of the classic, old-school RPG.
Final Fantasy is one of gaming's longest-running and most prestigious series. It started humbly as the expected swan song for sinking Japanese game developer Square Soft, but its surprising success has made the series and its developer a forerunner in the gaming world. These days Final Fantasy seems to be caught up in its own limelight. The 4 Heroes of Light takes the now bloated and flashy cut scenes and increasingly complex gameplay formula and shakes it back down to its core. What stands in its place is a celebration of the series' roots.
For people just picking up PokePark on the Wii, Nintendo of America Tweeted a code to unlock a snowboard for Pikachu.
This was just posted on the Nintendo of America Twitter page regarding PokePark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure, one of the first Wii Pokemon games that is not based on stadium battle:
A little more action, a little less RPG, a lot of awesome.
Mass Effect 2, the appropriately titled sequel to Mass Effect for the Xbox 360 is an excellent game and is a marked improvement, at the very least in the gameplay department, over its predecessor. In the game you continue your role as Commander Shepherd; Human Alliance soldier, Council Specter and all around badass who’s on a quest to save the galaxy.
The MMORPG has been transformed into a DS RPG. Did the game transition well?
Ragnarok DS is a title based on the internationally known, Ragnarok Online. It's namesake began in 2002, based on mostly Norse mythology, providing, at a cursory glance, typical MMORPG play through a 3D world with 2D characters. Ragnarok DS borrows from Ragnarok Online in virtually every significant way, from character design and classes to enemies, combat systems, and special abilities. Unfortunately, though, in removing the MMO aspects of Ragnarok Online, Gravity seems to have forgotten how to optimize Ragnarok DS's DS capabilities.
