Rhythm Heaven Fever Review

When I die, I want to go to Rhythm Heaven.

If asked to describe Rhythm Heaven Fever in one short phrase, I'd say it's “a horse of a different color!” Like Rhythm Heaven and the WarioWare games before, Rhythm Heaven Fever does an excellent job of painting itself as a game different from virtually any other. It's more unique, more quirky, and more inspired than a lot of what I've seen in the past. For a title budgeted for release at $30, there's certainly plenty of content to keep the original feeling going for some time.

EA really wants you to like Origin.

UPDATE: For reasons unknown, EA has suspended the promotion and removed all evidence from the Origin site, aside from some small text that reads, "Important Note: ME3 pre-order does not include a bonus copy of Battlefield 3."  Those that already preordered Mass Effect 3 on Origin will still have their code emailed to them sometime around March 8, 2012, but new preorders will not get this code going forward.  As originally reported on March 15th below, the promotion was scheduled to run through March 5th.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning Review

Curt Schilling’s 38 Studios knocks this one out of the park.

It’s hard not be struck by deja vu while playing Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, as it’s an amalgamation of every major Western RPG of the last five years. The art style and vibrant color palette are heavily inspired by World of Warcraft, the loot system rivals that of Borderlands, and the character development is an interesting Dragon Age: Origins/Fable hybrid. While Reckoning is quite liberal in its search for muses, it expands beyond many of them to forge a unique identity. Reckoning is to the games it borrows from, as baseball is to itself from 40 years ago; the concepts are basically the same, but everything is on steroids, making it far more enjoyable.

Ni no Kuni Coming Stateside Winter 2012

Both English and Japanese voiceovers available as well.

We can now narrow down the North American release window for Level-5’s Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch.  Namco Bandai revealed that they have moved from the vague release window of 2012 to the slightly less vague release window of winter 2012.  Assuming the publisher isn’t referring to the winter we currently find ourselves in, this means that we’ll likely see the Studio Ghibli collaborated RPG come stateside at the end of the year.

Tim Schafer Delivers First Wave of Double Fine Adventure Updates

Languages and platforms now known.

At this point you’d have to be living under a rock to not have heard how Double Fine amazed the gaming world by raising nearly $2 million (and counting) for their next game, Double Fine Adventure through crowd sourcing site Kickstarter.  Gamers who gave generously were given scant few details concerning the project aside from the fact that it would be a classic point-and-click graphic adventure game and that it would be released around October of this year.  But now that the project is certainly a go, Tim Schafer has released a special message with a couple of updates on the project.
