The crew is back and rowdier than ever in Mario's latest bash.
After nearly five years since Mario's last party, it may have started to look like the portly plumber was all partied out. With a new developer and a new direction, Mario Party 9 brings the series back in a big way. Even with a multitude of party games available on the Wii, Mario Party 9 still stands out for numerous reasons, though it's also bogged down by an abundantly luck-based system.
The first in a series of videos where the developers from Irrational Games talk about the enemies that the main character of Bioshock Infinite will cross paths with.
Mario Party 9 adds a new feature to the series: Boss battles.
The Mario Tennis series will have a new iteration coming for the Nintendo 3DS.
A collaboration title and release date also announced.
This morning, Nintendo had its Nintendo Direct video presentation and several announcements were made. Top among them was the announcement that The Last Story, one of the titles targeted by the Operation Rainfall movement, will be coming to North America this year courtesy of XSEED Games. The Last Story is the latest, and perhaps last, RPG developed by Mistwalker head and creator of the Final Fantasy series, Hironobu Sakaguchi.
When I die, I want to go to Rhythm Heaven.
If asked to describe Rhythm Heaven Fever in one short phrase, I'd say it's “a horse of a different color!” Like Rhythm Heaven and the WarioWare games before, Rhythm Heaven Fever does an excellent job of painting itself as a game different from virtually any other. It's more unique, more quirky, and more inspired than a lot of what I've seen in the past. For a title budgeted for release at $30, there's certainly plenty of content to keep the original feeling going for some time.
The ghost of Wii Sports lives on... and on.
Not content to release a "dull and outright boring" 2012 Olympics mini-game collection just for the Wii, Sega was kind enough to spread its time-tested mediocrity to the 3DS.
A couple of Hollywood's stars voice characters in the series reboot.
Electronic Arts announced via a press release that actors Rosario Dawson (Men in Black II, Sin City) and Brian Cox (The Bourne Identity) will play as Lily Drawl and Jack Denham respectively in the upcoming Syndicate reboot game. Lily Drawl is a rising star of EuroCorp, a corporation featured in the game and Jack Denham has a top role in the same company.
The finale of the NES trilogy is truly a classic to behold.
The year was 1990. It is about a year before the Super Nintendo makes its debut, but the NES is enjoying brisk sales of both hardware and games. The previous year Nintendo released its first handheld system, the Game Boy, and unleashed the addiction known as Tetris. This was, however, in North America. As I eluded to in Mario Mania #2, a Famicom player often had a different, exclusive set of hardware to play with than his counterpart in North America. The Japan-only accessory, the Famicom Disk System, was one of them.
