Sonic's 20th Anniversary Special

Come celebrate Sonic's anniversary by sharing your memories of the series alongside the PixlBit staff!

Earlier this year, on June 23, Sonic turned 20 years old. As a celebration of his legacy, Sega is releasing Sonic Generations today on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, with the 3DS version to follow later this month. The game celebrates the history of the franchise by joining old and new into one singular game that promises to mesh and meld all of what makes Sonic great. PixlBit's staff, growing up during the era of the blue blur, have fond memories of Sonic and his games and have come together to share their memories of the mascot.

Sonic Generations Includes Sonic the Hedgehog

The original Genesis classic will be unlockable in the game.

Sonic Generations will have levels taken from various previous games in the series. Green Hill Zone, Chemical Plant Zone and Speed Highway are all represented in the new 20th Anniversary game. It was revealed today that players will be able to experience the original Green Hill Zone with Sonic Generations.

Sonic Generations 3DS Release Date Announced

The handheld version of the game will be released not long after the console versions.

Sonic Generations will be the first title of Sega's mascot for the 3DS and it now has a release date. Although the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC version of the game will be released on November 1, the 3DS version will follow on November 22, 2011.

Sonic Generations Coming to PC

Title will be available on Steam November 4, 2011.

Sonic is Sega's mascot and he was a Sega platform exclusive back in the day. However, many of his games have been ported to PC. We now have confirmation thanks to Valve that his latest game, Sonic Generations, will be released on Steam the same day as the other versions on PS3 and Xbox 360, according to Blistered Thumbs.

Beyond Good & Evil 2 Will Not Release This Generation

The follow-up to the cult classic won't be releasing any time soon.

After its absence once again this year, Michel Ancel has commented on the future of Beyond Good & Evil 2. According to Ancel, the game is no longer being targeted for this console generation, but rather the next. No other information is known about the game at this time, but fans of will need to wait patiently as the game isn't scheduled for release any time soon.

Generation Reboot

Unlike any generation prior, this generation seems to have two very distinct phases, the second of which is starting now.

According to Wikipedia, we are in the seventh generation of the console cycle. As we all know, this generation is home of Nintendo's Wii, Sony's PlayStation 3, and Microsoft's Xbox 360. Additionally, though not a part of the seventh home console generation, this is still currently the era of the PlayStation Portable and the Nintendo DS.
