Mario Kite...i mean Kart races on to the 3DS, and it's AWESOME
Mario Kart for the Nintendo 3DS is definitely looking to once again suck up massive amounts of playtime from gamers. My hands on with the game surely proves that may very well be the case this holiday.
Jason grabs hands on impressions of the latest 3D Mario game after the Nintendo press conference.
Picture Super Mario Bros. 3 and put it in a 3D Mario game, and that’s about what it felt like. There were some major changes though, things you definitely need to know about before you can call them the same thing.
The game will see a host of new features.
Nintendo announced during their press conference today that Mario Kart 3DS will be making its way to stores this holiday season. The game will see some new features, like gliders, underwater tracks complete with propeller carts, and tire choices for different handling. Nothing more of the game was announced, but it appears to be a slight departure from past entries in the series.
A Sony press release confirms a full return of PlayStation Network functionality, though an exact date still has not been specified.
Sony confirmed today that thePlayStation Network will be fully functional once again some time this week. According to the company, this includes the PlayStation Store, in-game commerce, ability to redeem vouchers and codes, Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity for PS3, PSP, Vaio, and other PCs, and Media Go services. Online multiplayer services have already been restored across all regions, with Asian territories only having returned three days ago on May 28.
Multiple anything in a single game never seems to go well.
No matter your preference for sports games, I think it’s safe to say that the Mario Sports line has some universal appeal that just about anyone can love. Starting with Mario Tennis, straight up to Mario Baseball, each and every game has been well-polished, deep, and immensely enjoyable for long periods of time. Mario Sports Mix, the latest in the Mario Sports line, does not live up to this pedigree in the least. Much more akin to mini-games from the Mario Party series, Mario Sports Mix stuffs four half-baked sports games into one.
Wait, they are calling it the Circle Pad now? Well that’s just lame.
I could list all the 3DS features, but that would seem just silly; I am not a PR machine. March 27th is soon upon us all, and we will all have the 3DS in our grasp. Will I be ready to handle a brand new Nintendo handheld system? While it will take a bit for me to experience the 3D aspect (since Nintendo of Canada hasn’t bothered to release any 3DS tour information yet), it will be yet another handheld cycle for me to go through, and I’m looking forward to it.
What could this quote from Nintendo's latest press release mean?
"Other Nintendo 3DS games in the works for 2011 from Nintendo include The Legend of Zelda™: Ocarina of Time™ 3D, Star Fox 64™ 3D, Kid Icarus™: Uprising and new installments in the Mario Kart™ series."
After a week of waiting, the final pre-release character of Mario Sports Mix has been revealed to be...Suraimu?
Last week the Japanese Mario Sports Mix site revealed a number of characters for the upcoming title. While these characters turned out to be Final Fantasy themed, one last question space remained blank on the site.
