The fan favorite publisher steps in to help Vanillaware finish their dream project.
Vanillaware is a company that’s synonymous with lush, 2D graphics and classic gameplay. Best known in the West for Odin Sphere and Muramasa: The Demon Blade, Vanillaware has been hard at work on their next big title: Dragon’s Crown. This side-scrolling action game—a spiritual successor to the Japan-only Princess Crown for Sega Saturn—has been an idea that director George Kamitani has been shopping around for thirteen years. Rumors began to surface recently that the PS3 and PS Vita title had ceased development and was set to be canceled. Enter Atlus, who will support Vanillaware in their ongoing development, as well as publish the game in North America.
The next God of War game will act as a prequel to the series. Currently no other details are known, but Sony plans to reveal more about the title on April 30 at 11AM.
It’s all '80s, all the time.
Double Dragon is one of those games that everyone has played, or at least heard of. From its humble beginning as an arcade brawler, the franchise has gone on to make an appearance in some form in almost every console generation. The original title was ported to nearly every available system at the time, including the Atari 2600 in 1988. (And you thought this console generation was long!) Brothers Jimmy and Billy have been in one on one fighting games, have teamed up with the Battletoads on the SNES, and had the Double Dragon world predominantly featured in a completely over the top fan tribute to the NES called Abobo’s Big Adventure. Needless to say, Majesco and WayForward have some pretty big shoes to fill.

Sony may finally be ready to let the cat out of the bag.
We’re all but positive that Sony plans on releasing a fourth installment in the God of War series. There have been various leaks and clues that hinted at the game’s existence for quite some time now. And now, if Sony’s PlayStation Facebook page can be used as any indication, it seems that they may finally be ready to reveal the game for real this time.
We learn a sequel was also once in the works for the cult classic.
Sony Computer Entertainment hasn’t exactly been a hotbed of RPGs from a development standpoint, but there was a time back in the late 90’s that the genre had the studio’s full attention. The genre was a behemoth then, with titles regularly gracing the covers of video game publications and garnering respectable development and marketing budgets. SCEI wished to put forth their offering and the result was the cult classic Legend of Dragoon.
