Shadows of the Damned...2?

Despite the retail setbacks of the first game, Grasshopper wants another crack at it.

Last year’s Shadows of the Damned was well-known for two things. The Grasshopper Manufacture game was a dream collaboration of Suda 51 (No More Heroes), Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill), and Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil). It was also a colossal flop, selling a meager 24,000 copies in its first week on store shelves. Not a company to be held down by disappointing sales, it sounds like Grasshopper is eager to do another chapter in the life of Garcia F’ing Hotspur.

PixlTalk Episode 59: Konami Conundrum

We covered what we covered

We all know what the big story of this week, nay this month has been. To be honest, that which shall not be named has been reported on over and over again, and all of us were quite frankly a little sick of it. Thus, we decided to focus our sights on Konami instead. Konami has been a beloved development studio bringing us many classics including the beloved Metal Gear Solid franchise. However, as of late they have not been faring so well. With few new titles and even less worthwhile ones, what will it take to make this development studio top notch again?

Karts and levels just part of the creative karting experience.

Theatrythm to Serenade North America This Summer

The popular (in Japan) rhythm game gets a North American release window

Final Fantasy has produced some odd spinoffs, but none are quite so odd and charming as the franchise’s first foray onto the Nintendo 3DS, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy.  Upon its release in Japan this past February the rhythm/RPG hybrid saw a 90% sell through, pushing just under 70,000 units in its first week alone.  While it had been previously noted that the game would be coming to North America at some point, it wasn’t until today that we had any inkling as to when that could be.

Epic Mickey 2 Details Revealed

Hope you're a fan of musicals...

The decision to make Epic Mickey’s characters silent was a deliberate one.  Warren Spector created the unique Disney adventure game on the Wii as a homage to the silent cartoons that served as his inspiration. This decision, for better or worse, will not be repeated in the recently announced sequel now officially called Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two.  Not only will the characters be voiced, but they will sing and dance as this next game is considered a musical.

Sine Mora Review

Grasshopper and Digital Reality deliver a one-of-a-kind shoot-'em-up.

Sine Mora is a fascinating specimen, which should be no surprise to anyone familiar with Grasshopper Manufacture's other work. Once again, the team behind No More Heroes and Shadows of the Damned has delivered an experience that shakes up the established norms of a genre and provides a crazy, convoluted story that will have most players scratching their heads. This horizontal scrolling, bullet hell shoot-'em-up introduces a unique upgrade, special move, and timing system that drives the boss-intensive quest. While Sine Mora suffers from a few minor issues, its ingenuity and originality make it one of the best titles in the genre.

Shoot Many Robots Review

At least the name isn’t false advertising.

If I were to tell you that there’s a game for XBLA that combines the side-scrolling shooting of Contra with the 4 player co-op and loot based RPG mechanics of Borderlands, what would you say? Sounds pretty awesome, right? As someone who loves those two games, Shoot Many Robots sounds like it would be right up my alley. It sounds like a game crafted by the gods of programming, at least on paper. The actual execution of Shoot Many Robots is far from that idyllic image.
