PB & Jason Issue 72: Gamenomics

PIPA, SOPA, and saving moolah headline PB & Jason this time around.

Have you ever been on YouTube to see a message that a video has been removed to protect someone's intellectual property or prevent copyright prevention? Yes? Well, have you ever seen that message when trying to view a promotional trailer released specifically to be placed on YouTube by various members of the media? PS Vita Looks the Worst in a Bad Week for System Sales in Japan

The cantankerous PSP struts past that Vita whippersnapper.

The Media Create numbers that track video game sales in Japan for the week of January 9th through the 15th are out and present some pretty poor numbers all around.  The drop in sales across the board is probably due to the post-holiday retail doldrums.  The PS Vita sales numbers are getting the most attention for falling behind the PSP, which isn’t making way for Sony’s newer handheld.

Doom Available on Xbox Live (Again)

The XBLA port has been reintroduced to the marketplace.

Doom was originally released for the Xbox Live Arcade on September 26, 2006. The title was a port of the original PC version and featured co-op, as well as multiplayer, along with all of the bells and whistles Xbox Live Arcade games get. Then, the game was delisted on September 24, 2010. This was most likely due to a licensing issue as Activision had released the port.

Choplifter HD Review

This is one series that may have been better off in the past. Click through to see our first video review!

Choplifter HD is nothing if not true to its name; the game is essentially a dolled up version of 1982’s Choplifter, offering few innovations besides the modest graphical paint job. It’s a return to the 80’s – in the same sense of a Corey Feldman movie marathon – it’s shallow, devoid of humor, and awkward. MotoHeroz Review

More fluid dynamics would've gone a long way for this 2D physics-based racer.

MotoHeroz is a game that anyone can easily get excited for. Developed by RedLynx (the team behind Trials HD), MotoHeroz swaps the darker tones for a brightly colored and lighthearted style that's brimming with personality. Releasing on the nearly defunct WiiWare service, it has very little competition, which makes it all the more notable. Though notable, MotoHeroz only manages to hit a single note, which grows tiresome very quickly if you're not enamored by its brand of physics.
