The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Review

New controls, new structure, and new enemies help define this series changing game.

“Hey, listen!” Apparently someone at Nintendo got the message. After the release of Twilight Princess, universally, fans were begging for change. While Nintendo seemingly gave their audience everything they ever wanted with the Wii’s first title and the GameCube’s last hurrah, they still weren’t happy. They wanted a reinvention; they wanted something new, something fresh. Well there’s little question about it, Skyward Sword is absolutely the answer to the fans. Though not something wholly new, Link’s latest adventure manages to shake things up enough to make them fresh.

Skyrim Fans Win Free Bethesda Games For Life

All they had to do is name their child Dovahkiin.

Back in February, Bethesda Softworks challenged its fan base to name their child Dovahkiin if it was born on 11/11/11, the same day The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim would be released. In return, Bethesda would give the parents free Bethesda games for life. Well, Megan and Eric Kellermeyer are the proud parents of Dovahkiin Tom Kellermeyer. Bethesda released this statement: "Be it the real world or the game worlds we create, we wish young Dovahkiin the best in all his adventures. And if Alduin ever reaches this realm, we’ll be in touch."

Skyrim is shaping up to be one of the bigger blockbuster titles this holiday season.  For many it will be the first time they’ve delved into a series so rich with history.  Jumping in at this point can be a daunting task, but you don’t have to march into the breach without being prepared, as we’ve created the PixlBit Skyrim Primer – a beginner’s guide of sorts that should help to inform the neophyte Elder Scrolls player on what to expect.

Skylanders Spyro's Adventure Review

After the excitement of the toys has worn off, kids will be left with a forgettable game.

When Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure first showed up at my door, I was giddy, to say the least. Being a huge Spyro fan for years and having an obsession with collecting all things video game related, this game seemed more than up my alley. Admittedly, my first impressions of the game were positive; it captured the vibrant look of past Spyro titles, and the goofy characters captured the series’ charm. The first few levels were strangely linear for a “Spyro” title, but I merely attributed this fact to being part of the tutorial and introduction. However, two hours in, I realized that this game had absolutely nothing to do with the little purple dragon, and was disappointed to see that his only reason for being there, was to form a familiar foundation.
