Driver: San Francisco Review

The real San Francisco treat.

Driver: San Francisco has no business being as fun as it is.  It has one of the most ridiculous premises I have ever come across a video game, it oozes of 70’s car movie clichés and has enough cheesy dialogue to throw an epic fondue party.  Yet somehow all of these components meld together in a strangely fantastic way that makes for the most pleasantly surprising video game experience I have had the pleasure of playing all year.

Burnout Crash! Review

Destruction reigns supreme in this simple yet fun downloadable game.

Like most people, my favorite moments in the Burnout series have always revolved around the wrecks.  Slamming a competitor into an oncoming car during a race or just causing as much damage as possible during a crash mode is endlessly entertaining to me, so when I heard that Criterion Games was making a downloadable version of the Crash mode I was more than excited to get my hands on it.

Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition Review

The latest entry in the Street Fighter IV series is controversial, yet improves the game in necessary areas.

While this game has been out in arcades for at least six months now, Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition has finally made it on to home consoles after much demand. Aside from the four new characters and controversial balance changes, Capcom went the extra mile to add to the online experience with some unnecessary, but valued and interesting features. Does Arcade Edition have what it takes to warrant a purchase, or is it just another useless DLC?

Nick, Chessa, and Jason R perform a special recorded PlayBit with some classic arcade beat-'em ups. Watch and listen for The Simpsons Arcade, Turtles in Time Arcade, and X-Men Arcade as well as talk of the upcoming E3!

As has become tradition, part of the PixlBit crew has gotten together for a PlayBit before E3! This year we've decided to do things a bit differently. Rather than broadcast live, we decided to record our play session and post it so that anyone can see it, regardless of their schedule.

Rush'N Attack: Ex-Patriot Review

Maybe making a sequel to an obscure game from the '80s wasn’t a great idea?

Rush’N Attack: Ex Patriot is the latest in a string of updates/sequels of old Arcade/NES games, some of which have been phenomenal, like Bionic Commando: Rearmed. Unfortunately for Konami, that same success isn’t manifesting in their sequel to Rush’N Attack. This is thanks in large part to some uninspired levels, finicky jump mechanics, and one-dimensional gameplay. The gameplay does occasionally give off a Metroid vibe, but it’s clear the developers didn’t know how to really capitalize on that concept, resulting in a ho-hum experience.

Crazy Taxi Review

Earn thousands of dollars in minutes from the comfort of your own car!

Let's get this out of the way: Crazy Taxi, as it's available on PSN and XBLA is a modified port of a Dreamcast port of a now-classic arcade game. The Dreamcast port added in a second city to chauffeur customers around town, as well as the “Crazy Box” mode, which contains sixteen driving tests to hone and expand players' mad taxi skills. The PSN and XBLA version of Crazy Taxi is much like the Dreamcast version, with the extra city, time modes, and Crazy Box.

Dragon's Lair Trilogy Review

A great compilation of three classic titles.

Sometimes game releases come about, not to offer the latest innovative experience, but rather to pay homage to our roots. Dragon's Lair Trilogy is one such example, and though similar gameplay would label a game broken or unplayable by modern standards, it showcases just how far we have come in 27 years.
