Monday Night PlayBit: Metroid: Other M

Watch a replay of Jason playing one of the worst-received Metroid titles of all time!

Why would I play Metroid: Other M as this week's Monday Night PlayBit? It's simple: I never took the time to get through the game before. More than that, from what I saw, I really felt like the game got shafted upon release. See, Other M took Samus's stoic, unfeeling, powerful character and made her into a more realistic person. People were used to Samus being about the Power Suit, but most neglected deep thoughts about what was underneath. Am I just trying to look sophisticated, or is there something meaningful behind what I'm saying...? Click through to watch the replay!

Resident Evil Code: Veronica X - HD Review

Minimal improvements and dated gameplay – Code: Veronica X HD in a nutshell.

You may be asking yourself, "Why did Capcom decide to remaster Resident Evil Code: Veronica X in HD?" Truth is, I'm asking myself the same question after playing it. The game is fully rendered in 3D, unlike Resident Evil 1, 2, and 3, which feature static backgrounds. This has made an HD port possible, but it hardly makes it necessary. Phineas and Ferb: Across the Second Dimension Review

You'll have to trust me: it's a much better game than its handheld counterpart.

At first blush, it's easy to see a bit of Ratchet & Clank in the latest Phineas and Ferb adventure, which is based around the most recent movie Across the 2nd Dimension. This is due in part to the past experience of developer High Impact Games, which is comprised of ex-Insomniac Games and ex-Naughty Dog members. Despite offering a taste of the beloved Sony series, the game stops short of completely aping it to provide a more family-friendly experience that captures the own charm of the Phineas and Ferb series. While it's not going to reach the Ratchet and Clank crowd, it's still a great game for the target demographic of the show.

With Great Difficulty

What happened to "Nintendo Hard?"

I broke two controllers while playing Mega Man II as a kid. Specifically, I broke two NES controllers playing Heat Man’s level in Mega Man II. Even more specifically, I broke two NES controllers while doing the “Hell Blocks” portion of Heat Man’s level in Mega Man II. That particular stage summed up perfectly what the words Nintendo Hard really meant to me. You needed patience, quickness and the ability to predict the future. It also didn’t hurt to have a couple of extra controllers lying around the house, you know, just in case.
