Shinobi Review

Once upon a time, one of the toughest games got its rightful sequel. It’s now.

Out of all the 3DS titles released this year, Shinobi is the most likely to become a hard-to-find cult classic. Even with all of its faults, hardcore fans will find more than enough content to feel fulfilled. The developers at Griptonite have reinvigorated a dormant series that has stayed true to its roots as an unforgiving, relentless, combat-based platformer.

Ninja Gaiden to Launch with Wii U

Just don't ask us when that will be.

At this past E3 Nintendo pulled back the curtains on the Wii U, the company’s first gaming platform capable of producing High Definition graphics.  While the controller and muddled presentation of the system took most of the spotlight, Nintendo produced a sizzle reel of 3rd party games that are said to be in development for the new system.  One of the more notable games in the reel was Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge, a title that should give Nintendo some credentials with the mature gaming audience.  While we still don’t know for sure when the game is set to hit shelves, we have it on good authority it will launch alongside the system promoting it.

Ninja Gaiden 3 to Push Wii U Hardware

Team Ninja is working hard to push the Wii U to its limits.

At E3 earlier this year, Nintendo showed a Wii U “sizzle reel” showcasing games that were said to be in development for or would be ported to the system at some point in the future.  One of the titles shown was the highly anticipated Ninja Gaiden 3, a franchise that hasn’t seen Nintendo console release since 1995’s SNES Ninja Gaiden Trilogy.  While it was fantastic news that Ryu would be slashing through enemies on the Wii U, there hasn’t exactly been much information concerning the title since.  Actually, there’s been no information until now.

Heavenly Sword Review Rewind

Heavenly may not be the right word, but it's still a hell of a good time.

Apparently the eponymous Heavenly Sword is a highly prized weapon.  It is said to be a sword forged and used by gods, a theory that has resulted in the rampant bloodshed and chaos that has spread across the land.  Chief among the pursuers is the evil King Bohan, an oddly charismatic megalomaniac voiced by the very talented Andy Serkis.  Bohan has destroyed the lives of countless people in his quest for the sword and he has now turned to the last remaining clan not under his rule – the keepers of the Heavenly Sword itself – Nariko’s people.

Cubic Ninja Review

Despite having great personality and charm, the controls and poor level designs make this game nearly unplayable.

I have a predilection for quirky Japanese puzzle games, so you can only imagine how high my hopes were for Cubic Ninja. Its bold move of only allowing motion control further piqued my interest. Surely, solving puzzles with cube shaped protagonist, CC, was going to be a blast. Unfortunately, after just a few short minutes with the game, my interest was quickly dissipated due to the broken controls and poor puzzle design.
