Double The Fun? - Mario Mania #2

Two games in one part! Can you guess which one I like better?

Different things usually happened with Nintendo in two completely different continents. While the NES arrived in 1986 in North America, Japan was already in its third year of Famicom glory. Nintendo’s then-released Famicom Disk System introduced the battery back-up save feature, eliminating the need for long over-drawn password saves. Games like Metroid and The Legend of Zelda greatly benefited from this innovation. It was also this year that Nintendo saw fit to release a sequel to Super Mario Bros, appropriately titled Super Mario Bros. 2. This was a completely different Super Mario Bros. 2 than the one North Americans got in 1988. So what in the world happened?

Street Fighter III: Third Strike – Online Edition Review

Fighting gamers rejoice!

Capcom has often stated that Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition is a love letter to fans of the series. I completely agree with this statement. Not only is this version a faithful recreation of a hidden treasure, but it also caters to both Third Strike veterans as well as fans that may have gotten into the series with its later incarnations. Jam packed with features that most full priced retail games don't have, Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition is a fantastic value, that also happens to be a fantastic game.

Valve Reveals Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

The title is due on XBLA, PSN, PC, and Mac but is little more than an updated port of the old standby.

As it turns out, Counter-Strike: Source wasn't enough of an upgrade to the original Counter-Strike for Valve. Today, the company announced the latest iteration of the series, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, yet another incremental upgrade to the original formula. Coming to XBLA, PSN, and Steam for both PC and Mac in early 2012, players will be able to execute the same team-based gameplay in classic Counter-Strike maps as well as brand new ones. Additionally, new gameplay modes, matchmaking, leader boards, and other yet to be announced content will be included in the game. As of right now the only specific confirmed additions are balance tweaks and a special decoy grenade that will set off bullet sounds in an attempt to trick enemies. Gamers attending PAX Prime and London Games Festival will be able to play the latest from Valve.
