Zombii Attack Review

The N64 was two, almost three generations ago, right?

I would call myself a gaming enthusiast – someone who can appreciate just about any type of game for its unique merits. As such, I rarely see any game as a complete and total waste; Zombii Attack is one of those rare exceptions. Surely, it'd be better off buried somewhere out in the desert next to the Atari version of E.T..

Mighty Switch Force Review

Fun while it lasts, this unique puzzle platformer ends just as it's getting started.

It’s almost eerie how much Mighty Switch Force reminds me of an SNES game. It’s not bogged down at all by story, character development, or anything that normally keeps a game from moving forward. Players are dropped into a world with no explanation of who they are, how to use their abilities, or what they must do in order to complete the level. Despite all this, it comes naturally, as if you’ve played it before and already know exactly what to do; a sure testament to the game’s fantastic design. Unfortunately, like many an SNES game, it’s over all too quickly.

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 2 - Innocent Sin Review

Time is a harsh mistress.

As a fan of the Persona series, I'm delighted by the release of Innocent Sin. It's the one chapter I've never been able to experience, solely because it was left in Japan more than 12 years ago. Now that it's here, my feelings on it are mixed at best. Truth be told, Persona 2 is not a game that has weathered the years well. It's full of old school RPG designs and has been completely eclipsed by Persona 3 and 4. At this point, Innocent Sin is a game that only the most diehard of fans will be able to appreciate.

Cave Story 3D Review

Falling somewhere between Mega Man and Metroid, this indie 2D adventure must be something to behold, right?

I'm ashamed to admit it, but until now, I've never played Cave Story. Not for free on the PC, nor for the low price of admission on the Wii or the DSi. It's always interested me, but I just never got around to playing it. Cave Story 3D has changed that for me, but in retrospect, I don't feel as if I was missing all that much. Unquestionably, Cave Story is a solid game and that's made all the more impressive by the fact that a single man, Daisuke Amaya, created the game himself. While impressive, this doesn't make up for the fact that the game is a bit rough around the edges.

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked Review

Demons have overtaken Japan. Let’s survive!

A lockdown has bound Tokyo. No one knows who started the lockdown, and why the government is preventing any civilians from leaving the city. Shouldn’t everyone be able to flee, since angels and demons have begun to appear all around the city? Your party has no choice but to fight or die.
