Disney Epic Mickey Review

I promise I haven’t used the word “epic” in this review, except in naming the game’s title.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Disney Epic Mickey in a nutshell:

Picture this: Upon arriving at Disneyland (or Disney World,) you buy your ticket, walk up to the turnstile, present the ticket and walk in. You see Main Street, USA, filled with people, Mickey Mouse balloons, characters, a fire truck that ferries people to Cinderella’s castle, horse-drawn carriages, and essentially, you realize you’re at the entrance of what many would consider a magical place. Excitedly, you hurry to the nearest Disney cast member, and ask where you should go first! Then, the cast member, Jenny, says she lost her shoe, and was wondering if you could get it from Bobby, a cast member down the street. After navigating your way through a crowd, you retrieve the shoe and bring it back to Jenny. She gives you a MacGuffin, and then, in order to ride the very first ride, you realize four more MacGuffins are needed.

Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions Review

“Greetings, true believers!” Stan Lee’s words as he introduces Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions.

The DS version of the latest Spider-Man entry is one I found to be a bit of a delightful surprise. I’d describe the title as a Metroid Fusion-inspired Brawler. In the game, three versions of Spider-Man, The Amazing Spider-Man, Noir Spider-Man, and 2099 Spider-Man navigate a modest-sized maze of a map, uncovering power-ups and secrets along the way as they bang up hundreds of baddies.

Sonic Colors Review

A grand space elevator. A theme park in the sky. Giant robots. Planets tethered together. Men shaped like eggs. How could I not love this new Sonic title?

Sonic Colors poses a strong argument in response to the question above. A successor to the day stages of Sonic Unleashed in controls and stage design, virtually everything the title offers rides on the waves of mediocrity under the glitz and the glam of gorgeous graphics and diverse stage backgrounds. The gameplay, stage design, special abilities, controls, story, bosses, and enemies leave whole planets worth of expectations to be desired, unfortunately.
