Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper Review

This should have been a simple port, but something went awfully wrong along the way.

The Warriors series caters to a very particular type of gamer.  It’s the gamer that enjoys the most simple of things when it comes to their hobby.  The level of entry needs to highly accessible – mechanics relegated to a few basics that can be picked up with ease, even if mastering them takes some practice.  The gamer needs to feel powerful – the ability to take on huge swathes of enemies at a time with little effort.  There should be collectables of the low hanging fruit variety, with the larger goal of “completion” nestled at the end, just out of reach, but completely attainable.

THQ Is Not Having A Fire Sale

Making sense of THQ's bankruptcy filing

A lot of noise has been made of THQ’s supposed downfall recently.  Yesterday the company revealed that they have filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy, and as can be expected within the confines of the video game industry’s supposed journalistic quarter, articles started coming out wondering where some of THQ’s assets and IPs would be heading in light of its complete and utter decimation.

Push Start to Continue Episode 2: VGA Trailer Trash

One second, they give out actual awards at the VGAs?!?

We may be a day late, but this episode of Push Start to Continue is certainly not lacking in the dollars and cents.  Join Mike and Jesse as they completely ignore the awards given at this year's 10th annual Spike TV Video Game Awards, and talk about the only thing that really matters: the trailers and game announcements.  Also discussed is the allure of the Demon's/Dark Souls series, the THQ Bundle, and much, much more.

FIFA Soccer 13 Review

Already own FIFA 13 on another platform? Think twice about picking up this version.

FIFA 13 for the Wii U isn’t really FIFA 13.  Sure, there’s a big “13” emblazoned right there on the box, and the rosters are all updated from last year, but those changes don’t really make it a new game.  The FIFA 13 that gamers have been enjoying on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 is decidedly different from the game that has shown up on the Wii U; a game that is seemingly behind the times.  At its very core, this is FIFA 12 – a good game to be sure - but a step behind the other versions that have been out for months.

Our First Glimpse at Destiny

Bungie's next game is "designed for your inner seven year old."

Bungie, the famed studio behind Halo, has been hard at work on a new IP for quite some time now.  Aside from the title’s codename, Destiny, little to nothing has been revealed to this point, but like so many other big projects, it was only a matter of time before someone let something slip.

Rage Quit - Death of the Single Player

Get your multiplayer out of my single-player games!

As wonderful and awesome as the internet is, it really fucked things up for gamers like me.  It wasn’t really an issue in the early stages – that short period of time before it was as all pervasive as it is now.  Consoles remained offline for the most part, with only a handful of games offering any kind of online component.  Online gaming was for the PC crowd, not the console kids who enjoyed a far more streamlined and simplified gaming experience.

PixlTalk Episode 71: Back To Games

We move away from E3 and talk about what we've been playing.

E3 has come and gone and it’s time to focus on what’s really important, the games. This week we have a casual discussion covering what we’ve been playing and what we hope to play in the near future. We also delve off to discuss how 2013 is shaping up to be one of the craziest years ever for game releases, and the ludicrous notion that unfinished games receive awards at E3.
