I never did get good at any virtual golf games when putting. Mario Golf was fun though.

I didn't have much time to game today - family stuff - but I had a few hours and was able to get my orginal Xbox setup at my friend's place. I tried to hook up an ethernet cable for system link games with my friend's Xbox but it wouldn't work. Apparently you need a "crossover" ethernet cable for original Xbox and not the regular one. I used to have one of those because we used to play system link for games like Brute Force back in the day, but I don't know where I put it. Looks like I'll have to make a quick trip to the computer store tomorrow.
I popped in Links 2004. This is a Microsoft published golf game that was out there competing with Tiger Woods. There's no PGA player licensing but there is plenty of branded equipment and real courses. The best thing about it is its control scheme which is much easier than Tiger Woods. You just use the left analog stick: pull it down to raise your club and thrust it forward to swing. You follow a meter in the middle of the screen which, on Beginner setting, gives you guide bars to indicate how much power to give the swing. It's very simple but there's still a lot of room for finese and messing up. Putting is still a pain.
I started the single player career mode. I was able to get up to the final championship rookie tournment before I had to stop and go meet family.
The orginal Xbox graphics still look good. I'm glad I didn't get rid of my system. I think I might do a run through some classics like Halo and Timesplitters after this and a few I never finished like KOTOR and Jade Empire. I was commenting to Mark today, wouldn't it be cool if MS had kept online going for original Xbox. There would be three Xbox systems online right now.
When I got home after family stuff, I found a full Mii Plaza on my 3DS. I had stopped at two McDonalds, both on my way to Mark's and on my way to family. I'm running them through their paces now.
Until tomorrow pixlbits, YIPPIE KI-YAY!
