Back in BTPS

You don't know how lucky you are, boy. Back in BTPS (sung to the Beatles song Back in the USSR).

It doesn't sound right, but the feeling is right, and that's all that matters. I'm back in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel because new DLC dropped a little while ago and I forgot about it. I had the season pass, so it was time to get back to the grind, except this time, I was going to stick to my guns and build a character exactly the way I wanted it; and I did, up to about level 18 over the weekend. I built this Baroness character that came from the previous DLC. She's Hamerlock's wife and acts like a rich snob, but it's funny. Here's a pic.

                                      baroness

I decked her out all in white (looks blue here but it's white) and role-played her like she is obsessed with cryo (ice) gear. Her skills are all about cryo damage and all her equipment has cryo damage. I also collected any piece of equipment I found with cryo on it and saved them and tried to grind them into better stuff. Only thing though, if you grind three cryo pieces of gear, they don't always come out cryo. So far they've all come out with flame boosts. Weird.

Using all cryo damage is very fun to watch. Snow falls everywhere and shards of ice fly around and go after the enemies. Often I'll freeze an enemy solid and slap him to pieces. The only problem I've had so far is with ice Kraggons. Those things are resistant to all cryo damage making it really hard for me to stop them. Usually they are just a nuisance though and I run past them. Nearly everything else suffers severe frostbite when I am around.

I started carrying around one fire damage weapon though, because there was a side mission I couldn't finish because I couldn't take out a giant ice Shuggurath with my cryo weapons. My character's not happy about that. It's cryo or nothing as far as she's concerned. Fire is just beneath her. So uncouth.

I'm planning on continuing the main quest to the end and then hitting the two new DLC areas of the game. My friend Mark next to me was playing the new DLC where you go inside Claptrap's mind. I heard a lot of the funny dialog and I can't wait to get to that; however, I'm having fun role-playing element-specific characters. I'd love to do an all-fire one next and see what that looks like in action.

I also played some Grim Fandango today while waiting for the Borderlands DLC to download and got past the very first stumbling block I had getting a work order signed. An hour latter, I was at another conundrum. Will this game every let me finish it?

That be it. Keep on keepin' on pixlbits.

I started a Boroness, she is pretty cool, no pun intended.lol I am about half way through the Clap Trap DLC. The new guns are sharp and there is a lot of nostalgia mixed in for long time fans of the series. Got sidetracked by Destiny again but I'll be back.

New guns? Cool! It was weird because after I heard the characters "racist hot dog" and "angry cat" in the DLC Mark was playing, I came to the part in the main game where you first hear them. I also noticed how elements in the main game tie in to the Tales from the Borderlands ep. 2 storyline.

I'm thinking about picking up Destiny. I'm not much into the multiplayer MMO type stuff, but I want to see some of this game especially since the new DLC will add a co-op firefight type mode.

Destiny has its issues but at its core it is a lot of fun and you can move from solo to multiplayer at your leiser. You can actually do a lot solo. I started out that way but I have actually gotten to enjoy multiplayer elements much more. Plus I think they have improved drop rates on this last patch so it getting a little easier to get the good stuff.

That's good there's a lot of solo stuff. I think if I start playing it my friend Mark might begin to get interested. Right now he's not.

I really should get back into Borderlands. I started up the Vita version just to see where I left off, and I'm thinking about jumping into The Handsome Collection.

I heard from Randy Pitchford himself that the Handsome Collection runs like Borderlands on a high end PC. I want to see that.

I still need to play Grim Fandango.

It's awesome but infuriating. I get stuck so darn often. It totally ruins the pace of the game. There is an excellent walkthrough at GrimFandango.net. I've been starting to use though.

I too need to play Grim Fandango.  Totally forgot about that.

Tim Schafer was just on Playstation Blogcast podcast and he mentioned they're remastering Maniac Mansion! I've heard Day of the Tentacle is in the works too. I can't wait. I totally missed all those games back in the 90s. I was too busy playing shooters like Doom and Duke Nukem.

And Broken Age Complete is out on Vita later this week!

I played Maniac Mansion back on the C64 back in the day!  Cool game!  Long load times!

I had the NES version in my sights at a flea market but didn't get. I'm still mad I didn't pick it up then.
