Uncharted One is Done, Son

Finished up the game yesterday after Mother's Day celebrations. It was one tough slog through some of the biggest firefights of the game. They really hold back the ammo. In the church area you're given a sniper rifle and just about enough ammo to take out the half dozen or so snipers that have laser guidance systems. You've got to do them first, and quickly too, or be overwelmed by the troops on the the floor. Later you're fighting both ground troops and cursed spaniards and laser snipers. What a pain, but I did it on Normal difficulty.

I ended up with about 43 percent of the trophies in the game. I don't think I'll go trophy hunting. I'm kind of against being a completionist in games these days. As someone on the internet said once, "ain't nobody got time for that". Ain't that the truth.

I started up Uncharted 2, the game I meant to play all along. I'll play that later today. I think I'll run the series and play Uncharted 3 as well. Then I might think about playing a bunch of other Naughty Dog games. I made a list and there are a lot of them I want to get to. Or maybe I'll go back to Skyrim. We'll see.

Like you, I'd always wanted to play Uncharted 2 but couldn't bring myself to skip the first game. I actually like the story of the first game a little better but the second one definitely improves every bit about the gameplay and level design. It's great! I still need to play the third one though.

Btw, I didn't see a blog about your intended game playlist. What's your plan?

Replaying Uncharted 1 was a good idea. There's reference to the first game in the second and it was fun to revisit it. I'm going to replay Mass Effect for my ME2 first play also.

Here's the list again just for fun:

1. GTA V
2. Skyrim
3. Super Mario Galaxy 2
4. Mass Effect 2 (Mass Effect replay)
5. Uncharted 2 (Uncharted 1 replay)
6. GTA IV
7. Super Mario Galaxy
8. Bioshock (revisit)
9. Orange Box (finish Portal)
10. Final Fantasy XII
11. Metroid Prime
12. Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages

I wasn't a fan of Uncharted.  I know it's good, it's just not me.  I tried to like it, and I know 2 is even better, but I'm just done with that series.  It's strange.

I'm finding it's not my favorite thing either. If the gunplay was just a little better, I'd love it, but it annoys me to no end.

I started Uncharted 2 on PS Now a while back. No real interest in the story, so didn't care about skipping. It seemed alright. A lot like Tomb Raider 2013.

At one point the story was so similar to The Hobbit I almost laughed. They were looking at a map of a mountain through the light of a special torch where the treasure was and I immediately thought of the moon-letters, The Lonely Mountain and Smaug. I'm expecting a dragon in the last part of the game. Otherwise I'm going to be disappointed.Tongue Out

I didn't like Uncharted 1.  I forced myself through it.  I started the 2nd game a couple times, but never made it off the train.  Something always comes up.  I hear the 2nd game is a lot better.  I'll get to it some day.  I own the 3rd game too.  If I think the 2nd game is better than the 1st, then I'll play the 3rd.  I just got to play the 2nd game. Laughing

The second just has more of everything. It's a visual feast too and delivers it's story in a seemless and exciting way. Uncharted 1 is clearly a game. U2? I'm not sure. Sometimes I think I'm in a movie, but then I'm doing things in it, so I guess it's a game. It blurs the lines much better.

I've had the original game sitting for a while. I tried a little bit of it, but never gave it any real attention but I think I should.

I saw your list that you shared with Daftman, and I need to play through SMG 2 and GTA IV

It isn't a long game. I spent 13 hours on it playing on Normal difficulty, which makes the gun fights take considerably longer. I think the first time I played it, taking turns with my friend Mark, we played on Easy and ripped through it much faster; probably 9 or 10 hours like it says on howlongtobeat.com. It's a pretty linear game too; not many alternate paths or a lot of explorable areas to get lost in, which makes for a quicker playthrough.

same here for trophy hunting in that game. there is alot to do but I don't see myself trying that game in a higher difficulty.

I think I'll wait till the Uncharted collection to play the second and third game. anything to avoid those games on PS3 with their pSn pass bs. the only excpection would be if I find them dirt cheap: the only price they are worth.

That's how I got them. Dirt cheap.
