Some swag this week. No games yet, but there's always time for that last minute. We'll see. Pics below:

First up (and all of this is 1987 stuff) is Salman Rushdie's The Jaguar Smile, his travelogue of Nicaragua. I found it at Half Price Books. I looked for music, film and games first but found nothing, so I thought I'd look for some books too. Then I went to Barnes & Noble and got Dio's Dream Evil for $5 and Yes Original Album Series collection for $10. It has five albums in it! I only needed Big Generator for 1987, but all their 80s albums for $10 sounded nice. I'm probably missing Tormato from my collection at least.

That was one day, and the next day, I went to Shady Dog Records and looked through what they had on my 1987 list. I found Jesus and Mary Chain's Darklands album. I don't know much about them, but I thought I'd check it out. Then, as is my usual, I looked through the cheap bin of vinyl and picked up a live 1973 Traffic concert album On the Road. I really love that cover. I should look up to see who did it.

Well, it's back to my hoard of Miis at the Plaza gate. "Ok guys! Settle down! We'll game it up in just a moment!" Boy those Miis can be demanding. Toodle bye!

I really want to read The Satanic Verses by Rushdie some time.

For some reason, that book doesn't interest me much. I'll get a taste of his writing style from this one though, and maybe it'll make me a fan of his.

I don't know a darn thing about him except for all the controversy around The Satanic Verses.

Yeah that is his claim to fame but apparently his other books are goood.

Heck yeah the five albums for $10 box sets are easily the best deal at B&N's music section. Everytime I go into that section there's always one or two new box sets.

I always read about deals at Half Price Books, but we don't have them in Southern California.

I almost got the Jethro Tull one too. I think I have the albums on that though. It's their late seventies stuff. Not the best stuff, but for me, I have to have all of them.

I know what you mean, the spot where I get my music they have a bunch of Elton John stuff and I'm fighting off buying it just to be closer to having his discography. Its the funky 80s stuff but its part of his collection.

I've been looking for his very first album. One library in my area has it but it's like an hour away. Not sure I want it that badly, but maybe.
