Everybody loves swagoo. Such a tastey dish. Pic below:

              swagoo

Bunch o' music. From left to right: Strawbs - No Madness; Miami Vice (music from the tv show); John Adams - Nixon in China (music from the opera); Arnold Schoenberg - Pelleas Und Melisande (symphonic poem); Peter Gabriel - Passion (music from the Last Temptation of Christ film. Never saw it but it's Gabriel, so that's enough); and the Amadeus soundtrack (the movie about Mozart. The requiem music in this movie got me into Mozart big time).

Only Gabriel's Passion goes in this week's 1989 playlist. I'll have my friend Mark, who's got a vinyl to Mac conversion setup, do the ripping of the rest. I haven't found the time to do that but he has, so I'll get the mp3s from him at some point.

Remember this. Keep the vinyl out of the sun. Those suckers warp very quickly.

That's a nice haul. I'm impressed. I love Strawbs. Hero and Heroine is one of my all time favourites or is it Grave New World. Maybe both.

I have one or both of those. I am missing some key ones though, I think. When I get aroudn to the 70's stuff again, I'll figure out just what I haven't listened to yet.

I have only seen parts of Last Temptation of Christ and saw all of Amadeus, but don't really remember it.

I only remember Mozart's Requiem from the movie. I love that piece.

Haven't listened to Strawbs since I was in high school... feel like I need to revisit them at some point.

I had a friend who got me into them. Rick Wakeman played on one of their early albums. That helped too.

I LOVE Nixon in China.  Love it.  Also getting into that Debussy opera slowly, bought the bluray. it's weird.

I hope I can watch it on youtube. I'll listen tot he music, but for opera, I gotta see it.

I thought that Pelleas und Melisande was Debussy too at first, but it's Shoenberg. I've listened to the Debussy one though. Love that. Gotta see a production of it someday.

I'm curious about that one. My friend Mark is ripping it for me. Then I'll listen to it.

There's a ton of really great 80s stuff on it. I gave away all my vinyl, I finally realized I was never going to get the equipment to play it on and it was taking up a huge amount of space. My boss gave it a good home.

I've dumped my whole vinyl collection several times for the same reason. It's slowly building again, but I'll donate it to the library when I get a box full.
