1992: Film and a Game Advert

I'm pretty sure I saw Batman Returns and Wayne's World that year in the theaters. Later I saw movies like Clint Eastwood's western The Unforgiven, Robert Rodrigez's El Mariachi, Ralph Bakshi's Cool World, and possibly Bram Stoker's Dracula staring Gary Oldman.

I've seen tv shows that debuted in '92 like brit-com Absolutely Fabulous and a handful of Batman Animated series episodes. I'd like to see the rest of that series, for sure; and there are a few other things I'd like to see as well such as: My Cousin Vinny; Don Bluth's Rock-a-Doodle (I'm assuming a animated film); Split Second (a british scifi flick - how could I avoid that being a Red Dwarf and Dr. Who fan - ); Ridley Scott's period drama 1492: Conquest of Paradise; Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs; Peter Jackson's Braindead; and The Ben Stiller ShowI've got '91's Barton Fink to finish first, but some of these are on Netflix streaming, so I'll probably get to one of them - 1492, I think, first.

Also I've been reading the Dragon Magazines I got from a library book sale, trying to read the year I'm researching. I finished Dragon #141, Jan. 1989 and found this cool video game advert for Advance Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes ot the Lance

This advertises the '89 PC game, but it was ported to NES in '91. I'll try and hunt down a copy sometime.

While you're in the 90's, you'll have to watch Mystery Science Theater 3000 sometime, too.

Oo yes. I used to watch that on some cable station late at night after work in the 90s.

I remember Batman Returns scaring me when I was little, but I was drawn to it partly for that reason.

I remember Rock-A-Doodle from after school care; it is a cartoon. Not Don Bluth's best from what critics say. I don't remember it well enough to say for myself, but kid me liked it fine.

Shows that scared me as a kid were Land of the Lost and Space 1999.

Seeing Unforgiven in the theater was a GREAT experience.  Subverted so much western shit.

I think I've played Heroes of the Lance.  I love Dragon magazines.

Yea Unforgiven was great. Dragon is so much fun to reread.

I saw Unforgiven in the theater. It's a very well done film, but I didn't really like it. None of the characters were very likable, other than Morgan Freeman's, and he died a third of the way through.

In the 1990s I was reading Isaac Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine. I think i had a subcription from around 1984 to around 1993 or so. Found a copy in the grocery store last week. I think the entire store heard me squeal with glee.

I was just looking up Amazing Stories, but I definitely read some Asimov's SF Mag.

Yes, Rock-a-Doodle is animated (though with some minor live action at the beginning and end), but it is not one of Bluth's best ones as the Nostalgia Critic review showed. Oh well, atleast I would watch it over A Troll in Central Park.

You should totally watch Reservoir Dogs.

Just watched the trailer for Rock-a-Doodle. The story may be blah, but that animation, so great.

Reservoir Dogs in on Netflix streaming right now. I'll probably get to it soon. I just listened to the soundtrack the other day.

You, sir, are the king of themed blogs Laughing I'm continually impressed with how far you follow through with these things. Lately I haven't been able to do much at all past my monthly recaps lol.

Thanks. I'm always in grave danger of burning out on this kind of thing. Blogs really don't have to be anything in particular. I just like to make a project out of stuff probably because my job doesn't use my brain. I ought to fix that.

Loved Batman Returns. I was still in my crazy Batman mode but this time I bought a bunch of the trading cards. The Topps Stadium Club Batman Returns cards were the ones I went for. Also Michelle freaking Pfeiffer! Loved My Cousin Vinny, and I remember Ab Fab being shown on A&E.

I think 92 is when I got my Game Gear and one of the first games I beat on it was Batman Returns.

I guess Batman Returns was the one with Jim Carey as Riddler and Arnold Swartzenegger as Mr. Freeze? I gotta watch that one again.

Batman Returns had Catwoman, and Penguin, Batman Forever had Riddler and Two Face, and Batman was Val Kilmer, and Batman And Robin had Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze, and Alicia Silverstone as Batgirl.

Man, that's a good trilogy to watch marathon style: Batman, Batman Returns and Batman and Robin.
