I'm too shallow for Minecraft to be the game to end all games for me. I really don't like that mid-90s PC game look it has for various reasons both obvious and more personal. But it's awesome you enjoy it so much. I'd love to have a game like that I just never get bored with. I may buy GTA V at some point. Seems like that might be the game for me.
Speed Run Fail, Halo Giveaway, and Minecraft Horses

Started out today going for my speed run in Minecraft with Mark. We had to find the Stronghold and we narrowed down the location, with the Eyes of Endor, to this one mountain. By digging down we found it but couldn't find The End portal that takes you to the Endor Dragon. We searched everywhere in there. It took so long that I eventually gave up because we'd passed the six hours i thought it would take us. I began to just mess around and build a long stairway down the mountain, adding some water to make it like a water slide.
Then we loaded up a new world and played Creative Mode in order to blow things up. I blew a few things up, but ended up building a monorail through a mountain. Then I located and found The End portal and went and beat the Endor Dragon with loads of TNT. As I was doing that, Mark blew up a whole mountain with TNT. We flew around the world like Goku and Vegeta and messed things up. It was fun.
Then Mark noticed there was a giveaway on Xbox Live. You get a custom Xbox One if you enter and play any Halo game. So I started the download of my digital copy of Halo Reach. That was taking a while, so I played some Halo: Spartan Assault. This game has the top-down look of Halo Wars but plays as twin-stick arcade shooter, like Alien Breed. It was cool but it frequently updated to cloud storage, interrupting my Halo: Reach download. So I went and played Ticket To Ride. I had to play against the AI because when you play online, it stops your download. I played against two super hard difficulty AI and got my butt kicked several times. It was fun though.
Finally Halo: Reach downloaded and Mark and I played Firefight mode online. I love Firefight mode. It's total mayhem and really fun. I was back in the saddle again, runin' and gunin' makin' things blow up real good.
That was ok for a while, but then I decided to go back to Minecraft and start a new world solo. I cranked it to Hard difficulty on Survival Mode and promptly got my butt blown off by a creeper as I was building a shelter. I kept going though and soon got in control of things. I decided not to do much digging but to go and find natural mines and just chip out the minerals as I saw them on the walls. This seemed like a faster way to do it.
I found a natural mine close to my shelter and explored it. I found a Spawner and got killed a few times before I destroyed it. Two chests lay there. I found saddles and diamond horse armor among other things. Later on I found a horse and went about taming it. I fed it an apple, and jumped on its back until it stopped bucking me off. Then I saddled it and dressed it with the diamond armor and rode it home. I was worried it would run off so I built a fence to keep it in until I needed to ride it again. At that point, the night was over. Now I will probably dream about that horse, riding it across the land.
Minecraft is so great. I sometimes wonder if this isn't the "game to end all games" people have been talking about. I hardly want to play anything else right now.
