Skylanders Frenzy

One of these days, I'm going to get a smart phone and tweet all this. It's much faster that way. But here's a blog until then. The Skylanders sale at Gamestop, on figures, buy-2-get-3-free, is going on until Xmas!!! I just picked up the figures that came with the starter kits for the first two games, Spyro's Adventure and Giants for under $10. See pic below:

Yea, I should get multiples of five. Next time.

The glare obscures a lot of them. It's that silver plastic on most of the packaging. I'll take a better picture of them all later in my own little display. Anyway, the green bottom ones are from Spyro's Adventure and the orange bottom ones are from Giants. Going top to bottom, left to right: Gill Grunt, Trigger Happy, Spyro, Cinder, Jet-Vac, Tree Rex. I avoided the special versions of these figures because they are more expensive (although they look awesome) and because I wanted to start collecting the figures that came in the starter kits.

Now I'll have to make a new list. I think I'll collect just the core figures across all four games. I mean, I probably wont get them all, because there's a a lot of them, but I can do it on most of the games, accept the first one, which has like 74 core figures. The others are all under 20 figures.

Oh joy! It's going to be a very Skylanders Christmas for me. Now what to get everyone else. Hum. . .

I just went today to get like 3 figures cheap and asked casually if there was a sale going on. Buy 2 get 3 free is crazy. I can't let that go by. I have to be very careful though. Don't want to get too carried away.

I'm looking to finish all the Giants characters next (there's only like 8 core ones) but they are a little more expensive, 'cause they're bigger, so I may break them up over a couple days so I don't run up my debts too quickly.

ha, I wish I could do something like that with the Lego game or something, but my space is cluttered enough already.

You're telling me. My friend Mark the other day said I was like Smaug lying on a pile of games and related stuff in my room. It's not far from the truth.

The weak spot is my heart. Perhaps a young damsel shall stieal me away from this obsession with fantasy.

As long as you have at least one of each of a Skylander elemental representative, you'll be fine with most games.  You'll need at least one Giant with Giants.  In Swap Force, you'll need one of each Swap Force skill, too.  And in Trap Team, you'll need an element traptanium for each of the villians' elementals.  And in Superchargers, you'll need one of each of a land vehicle, sky vehicle, and water vehicle.

The only Skylanders I own are the ones that came with the review copies I got.  I also have a silver Spyro I got at E3 one year, and I ordered a couple of the mini sidekick figures because they were free with food promotionals.

The only 'toys to life' I go crazy with are Amiibo figures. :)

Thanks. Good to know. I'm going for all the core characters. May not get there, but it's fun trying.

Those special edition Skylanders are really cool. I'm always so tempted to pick them over the core figure. But a plan's a plan.

I saw Bowser amiibo the other day. Sooo wanted that.

You got into this quick!

I need to watch myself with stuff I've been coillecting lately though too. Really need a budget for myself.

I used to get this way with the buy 2 get 1 free sale on games a while back. It was like every other day to pick up something. That's why I have two bins full of games to go through. I am starting a new policy of restraint for 2016 though. I think I spent a whole year of my entertainment budget in the last two months. That's gotta stop.

Of course, the most expensive things on that spending spree were consoles and I only do that every five years or so, so I'm not too worried about my spending, just a little.
